Rough Draft of Film Poster -Text Only

This is my rough draft of my first film poster. It was created through Serif Draw Plus X6. This software caused me to play around a bit, as it was my first time using and creating a piece from it. At this point, the poster is a rough draft and only features typography on it.

- For the layout, I used a simple A4 pastel blue background. I chose this colour for my background as it is simple, feminine and delicate and this was the theme, I wanted to infer to my audience. I also wanted to refer to the season I would be releasing the 'film' which is early June, so I hoped the colour would give off that summertime feeling. Lastly, the colour I used suggests a sky, in which a skyline is featured in my trailer. This creates a link between the poster and trailer and I believed the audience would begin  become familiar with my products.
- The type of film poster I'm going to aim for is the main theatrical type, including pictures, release dates and production personnel. I will also include stars, rating a tagline and possibly the names of characters. The social media sites will also be included, to promote my film and attract a young target audience.

- To get that handwritten like texture and font, I used a site called 'cooltext.com' and after playing around, I discovered a text that was quite formal and struck out to me. I then exported the type and imported it into the software. The text was called super scripted and I made the colour a white grey to fit my 'skyline' theme. The fonts of the names, the production personnel and the release date were all from Serif DrawPlus. The font of the names and the release date is called 'Agency FB' I re sized certain words and enlarged some to make it look as realistic to real film posters.

- Finally, I worked by the rule of thirds to present the positioning of the image. Of course I made my title central, so that this would be the first thing my audience see. I then added my main actors underneath, to give them some significance.

After showing this to my audience, I received some points for improvement and bits that went well. That I aim to act on and make a difference

Improvement
The 1st third of the picture is empty and looks bare
The release date is much more bold and eye catching then the title / Make title more interesting
Title is kind of hard to read
Add images
Create a colour scheme - Blue and White (Sky theme)
Have a tagline
Position type to make it interesting

WWW
The production personel is interesting and different
The type is actually creative
Actors name in bold
Simple but sweet
